Suzuki enters pre-owned motorcycle market

American Suzuki Motor Corporation issued a press release yesterday that it will begin sales of pre-owned motorcycles at its dealerships this month.

Called the “Suzuki Select Certified Pre-owned Motorcycle Program”, the street motorcycles and scooters, which have to be less than four years old with 30,000 miles or less to qualify, will undergo a strict 77 point inspection. Suzuki will offer the standard 90-day extended protection plan, roadside assistance, and extension programs for the pre-owned vehicles.

3. It makes sense a manufacturer would get into the used bike market. The dealers have always sold trades etc. There are already big used bike dealers that you can trust on price and quality. there's one here in Florida that I use to see what I should pay for a used bike. If they do it right and not try to overprice the bikes, they will do okay. If not, then the customer is better off buying off the street. Plus, if they screwit up, their name will suffer.

4. I hope more corporations would indulge into the same method. In Malaysia, KTM and Aprila do sell used bikes despite it being a small market here.

As for the cruisers segment, only Kawasaki has a formal office here but unfortunately they are more into after sales services and sales of parts.

Hope the other players will set foot in this region and adpot a similar policy of what Suzuki is doing on a larger scale.

5. This is great news! I used to own a Katana 750 and have been thinking about getting another crotch-rocket. It will be nice to know if I buy used that the bike has a 90-day warranty and been inspected by an authorized Suzuki dealership.

6. Nice bikes , bad company. I have a 2002 VL800 with only 3400 miles and the engine went. Suzuki would not ever consider extending my warranty. I know the bike is 5 years old but 3400 miles, the foot pegs aren't even worn. I would not buy another Suzuki new or pre-owned.

7. I own a GSXR1000K7 and the diagnostics on the bike check perfect! The bike can't get over 4000 rpm before it bogs out. The dealership dosent have a clue whats wrong. So much for their certification. Yes I am still persuing a solution to this brand new bikes problem. Lee185 @ st.onge185@hotmail.com

9. You need to get the lemon law out and use it. If the dealer can't fix it they need to replace it. That is how it works in this state(WA)..scruffy...good luck..

11. How about an '06 Suzuki 805 c50 with cracks(7) in the front hub and Suzuki rep would not do any thing to help. Event this week.. Better check your front wheel hubs for cracks due to poor casting(forging) techniques on the part of Suzuki....

I talked to the Highway Safety Administration regarding the cracks in Suzuki C50 rims(mine included)and they told me they don't have any complaints about the problems.They said if people call them(1-888-327-4236)and put in a complaint then it will warrant an investigation from them .They will then contact Suzuki and see if they know there is a problem,which might lead to a recall,but we have to call and complain or nothing will be done.

13. I HAVE A 2007 SUZUKI BOULEVARD C50 800CC.WITH CRACKS IN THE REAR HUB.THE FACTORY WON'T DO ANY THING ABOUT IT.THEY PASS IT OFF AS BEING MOLD MARKS IN THE ALUM. CASTING.I HAVE ONE CRACK THAT I CAN STICK MY FINGER NAIL IN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION,AS ONE MEMBER HAD SUGGESTED IN HIS BLOG. THEY ARE GOING TO SEND ME SOME FORMS TO FILE A COMPLAINT.I HAVE READ ABOUT SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS SUBJECT WITH CRACKS IN THE WHEEL HUBS.IF YOU HAVE A SUZUKI WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM, YOU MAY WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT ALSO WITH THE HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. 1-888-327 4236 .

14. There are alot of motorcyclists that want to step-up to a bigger bike but just can't afford the payment of a new cycle. I rode my beautiful 1996 Honda VFR with Two Brothers carbon fiber shotgun exhaust over to talk trade. Suprise, I sold the bike to another prospective customer right there in the parking lot!! 10 minutes after I got there! Let me tell you , that made the new purchase alot easier. I left with a new C109rt!!!

15. It took a lot of me to switch from HARLEY to suzuki.BUT i did, That was 11 years ago.Sorry about the bad luck on the rims, But im no longer leaking oil,Any Manufactory of any brand can have problems.But suzuki is it for me.
