Since the price of gas started sky-rocketing a few months ago we've been seeing all kind of bikes on the streets of L.A. that haven't seen daylight in years.  And we're interested in those riders and their bikes (wherever they are).

1. I slide a Honda Nighthawk down the interstate (due to a semi and no where else to go) and said I would never ride again. But with gas prices like they are, had a chance to buy a 78 GL1000 for about nothing. Took about a month of work (it had set for about 5 years) and now I ride to work everyday (rain or shine) and couldn't be happier. I guess that is the only good thing I can say about gas prices!!!

2. I'm a new rider (2 years). I just bought a 2008 Hyosung GV250 but I started out with a 1980 Kawasaki KZ250D. It was a perfect starter bike and though I could only get up to 65 mph downhill in a tailwind it only cost me $150 to buy and about $400 to get running. It had been garaged for most it's life and only had about 2000 miles. Not a bad deal. The rise in gas prices gave me the leverage for my wife to give me the go-ahead to get the new bike, but I'm keeping the Kawi for posterity.

3. I, after a few years, decided to get another bike, for the sake of my wallet, and bought a suzuki 250 and have had a pretty good time riding it to work. When I put gas in, and it cost about$6.00 to pot it off, I'm happy with the little unit. But, and you knew this was comming, I need to step up a bit. So I am getting an 82 Virago 920 tomorrow so as to put a little more bit on the pacement. So far the only thing I have heard bad about the bikes of that time, is the starter issues. Any help on the subject would be helpful to me. Thanks mitch

4. I BOUGHT A HONDA 250 REBEL IN MAY. I ALWAYS WANTED TO RIDE. THE GAS SITUATION DID IT FOR ME TOO. AND THAT'S RIGHT. I JUST BOUGHT A 2002 SUZUKI 800cc VOLUSIA.
I LOVE IT, AND IT'S STILL MORE LIKE FILLING UP MY LAWNMOWER COMPARED TO MY SUV.

5. Mopeds are the fastest growing group of bikes in WISCONSIN.the 50cc china made scooters are everywhere.and i see all kinds on them.a woman wearing heels and a dress REALLY caught my attention last week.

6. I am very new to motorcycles. Even with high gas prices I was a dedicated pick up person. Then I dated a guy with a bike and he talked me into riding with him. I hated it. Being a passanger that is. So I started looking and by chance a friend had a 95 Virago 250. He sold it to me for $500. I put about $350 in it (mostly tires) and am learning to ride. I love it and wish I had done it sooner. Of course the milage is great, but the real motivator? My little brother said I couldn't learn how. Shows what he knows. I love the freedom and filling up for 10 bucks is pretty sweet too.

7. Al ”EasyRider” a yr back bought 06VTX1300R 06-07 1st wk went on a long ride to AZ NV Laughlin 25th River Run I put 985 miles I just put 14,200 miles last wk I live in San Diego, CA I ride to wk 5 to 6 days a wk + do my Grocery shopping etc, I do have F150 & Car nothing bets VTX1300R my monthly gas $95 to $130 I am saving about $350 a month November 6,7,8 & 9, I am planning to cruse to Rocky Point Rally 2008 Puerto Penasco Mexico 10,000 to 15,000 motorcycle about 1300 mile round trip from SD CA

8. After a long break from riding,I bought/traded for an old GS 700 ES Suzuki and about a year ago ,picked up a V Star 650. I use the six and half for trips and anywhere that does not involve work. Fifty miles per gallon is nice, but riding again is where it's at !
