You may have heard by now about the deadly motorcycle wreck in Phoenix a couple of days ago. The more I read about it, the more horrific it sounds - basically because none of the riders did anything wrong. A group of eight motorcycles was stopped at a red light when a heavy garbage truck slammed into them from behind, toppling them like dominoes. The crash killed 3 riders, and also injured six others, with two remaining in critical condition at the local hospital.
Some of the bikes exploded into flames as the truck drove over them, and the rest of the machines were scattered everywhere. Initial reports state no evidence of the truck driver being impaired and no charges have been filed yet according to Phoenix PD. I've even read somebody comment that the driver said he was simply "distracted". Man, he must have had a paper bag over his head to not notice 8 bikes.
There's a pretty complete video summary on one of the Phoenix news stations, KPHO.
